Shoddy research & preparation
A blatant historical error at the very beginning of the July 5, 2020 “Lonesome Dove” episode was so ridiculous that I found it pointless to continue listening to any 1001 episodes, wondering how many other careless inaccuracies are in the content. The blatant error in the narrated script at the outset of Lonesome Dove episode was the bogus statement that Texas was still an independent country “in the 10 years before the civil war”. Pitiful. Anyone with a marginal education in U.S. or Texas history (or the ability to web search the terms “Republic of Texas / Texas statehood”) should know that The Republic of Texas was created in 1836 after Texans won independence from Mexico after routing the Mexican Army at the Battle of San Jacinto, and that Texas was annexed by the United States as the 28th State of the Union in 1845. I don’t see the point of wasting my time on a podcast that’s produced with such shoddy research & preparation.
