    Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard

    Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard

This week the Dude and the Bro discuss the fascinating podcast from Dax Shepard and co-host Monica called "Armchair Expert." On this episode, we hyper-focus on a recent show on a segment they often do called "Armchaired and Dangerous" which is a fun show that discusses the mind blowing concept of "Simulation Theory" with friend of the show David Farrier.

When one thinks of "Simulation Theory" the easiest explanation is to describe the movie "The Matrix." But Simulation Theory is really just a branch of a common philosophical concept called Existentialism essentially.

We talk about Armchair Expert as a show in general and the Dude and the Bro wax poetic about life, simulation theory, and existentialism! A conversation you won't want to miss!

    Crushed

    Crushed

This week we discuss a new offering from PDX Public Radio and Sportswriter Joan Niesen entitled, "CRUSHED."   The Crushed Podcast takes us into the seedy underbelly of Major League Baseball's infamous STEROID scandal in the late 1990's centering around specifically the Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa homerun race of 1998.

Perhaps, a conversation that the Dude and the Bro have been salivating to talk about, we examine what actually constitutes "cheating" in professional sports, and is performance enhancing drugs even considered cheating?

Crushed is a fascinating look into the challenging ethical dilemmas that plague professional sports considering there is a ton of money and stakes on the line.  To the fame and fortune, flash in the pan careers, and the injuries, substance abuse, and death of it all, 'Crushed' asks and examines those tough aspects of Baseball.

    Barstool Sports Presents: The Case

    Barstool Sports Presents: The Case

When we heard that the folks at Barstool Sports were producing a "TRUE CRIME" podcast, our interest immediately was peaked.  When we heard it was going to be hosted by sports broadcaster, Kirk Minihane, we immediately went to review it.  "The Case. [season one: boston]" has us to retracing the steps of the disappearance of 16-year-old of Jennifer Fay of Brockton Massachusetts in 1989.  Kirk Minihane revisits this cold case as it hits home for him being a Boston native and contemporary of Jennifer Fay.

Is this just another a run of the mill true crime show that has oversaturated the podcast-sphere? Or, does the Midas touch of Barstool compounded with the chops of Minihane make this a harrowing and compelling tale of a cold case with unsavory characters that lead you to more unsavory characters as you peel Boston's worst onion back and back? (perhaps that was a tell).  Listen along as the Dude and the Bro give their take on this offering from Barstool.

Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan

Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan

This week The Dude and the Bro review a brand new show that falls in the vane of TRUE CRIME, HISTORY, MYSTERY, and HORROR all in one show. And that is, "Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagen." On this show, we focus on the very first episode Daisy produces entitled "The Watcher House." Strange and Unexplained takes us back to a creepy true to life story of a family that moves into their dream house in a non descript rural New Jersey town and begins to get mysterious letters from what is apparently and obviously a local stalker.

Strange and Unexplained encompasses fascinating true stories that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.  But who is Daisy Eagan?  Who is the target audience for this show and who is the brand of humor supposed to be for that is awkwardly woven in?  The Dude and the Bro explore that and much more this week as we review this new podcast that is blowing up the charts.

Joe Rogan Finally Comments on the Deleted Episodes Controversy

Joe Rogan Finally Comments on the Deleted Episodes Controversy

On a recent episode of the Spotify iteration of "The Joe Rogan Experience," Joe Rogan comments briefly on about the 42 or so episodes that Spotify has refused to carry in its catalogue.  This has sparked a tremendous amount of speculation and conjecture from fans and media folks alike about the motivations of Spotify and the large $100 million dollar media deal that the streaming media titan has made with the beloved giant of podcasting.  Even after some of the long awaited addressing of the 1000lb elephant in the room, there still remains a ton of questions as to why the episodes have been deleted. Did Joe Rogan have a part in it, and what was the true nature of the $100 Million dollar deal?  The Dude and The Bro discuss this in detail.

Nice and Casual Review Style

I really enjoyed your recent review of the Miami Chronicles: Booby Trap. You guys did it justice. My only complaint is that you could have mentioned Michael (the storyteller) a bit more. I disagree and felt that his style was pretty easy to follow (and James did a good job of clarifying too).

Sleep with Me

You totally missed the point of the show. He tells you that you can skip the first 20-25 minutes and go straight to the story and that most listeners use the intro etc to prepare for sleep if necessary. I have only once heard the end of a story because his cadence (as you mentioned) and his meandering lulls me right to sleep. The point is you don’t have to think about what you are hearing. Better than music, soundscapes etc for me . You didn’t even listen to the story before knocking it. I gave 2 stars instead of one because at least one of you acknowledged there could be or at least may be some science to this. No respect for your rants and reviews... oh , and btw, not trying to be mean.

Not sure what I expected

Not sure what I expected from the podcast called a dude and a bro but these guys are dicks. I kind of had my arms crossed the whole time
