you guys are sharp!! insightful, engaging, informative, fun! you get into the nitty gritty and you do such a good job of taking a wholistic view of your topic and connecting lots of disparate ideas and making them cohesive. i learn a lot and my architectural vocabulary had benefited greatly. i...Read full review »

This show is entertaining and engaging. They hosts look at building architecture through case studies of important architects such as GaudÍ and Scarpa. Plus there are book reviews like Gibson’s Neuromancer which focus on the spaces and buildings.

One of the best podcasts I have ever listened to.

This is a wonderful podcast. I am an architecture student whose curriculum is extremely design focused. This podcast is my self-assigned historical and theoretical supplement to that training and it succeeds completely. I imagine I would like it very much even if I were not a student, but...Read full review »

I am a March student in Chicago and have been listening for some time now. Highly recommend for enjoyable content, review of topics, and relevant insights. Their enthusiasm for architecture helps when you feel burnt out.

Hello ! I found your episode on Loos’s Ornament and crime very useful , interesting, and necessary. Why useful and necessary ? Well, at least for me, I read the original short essay a couple of times but didn’t really understand what the great man was on about ! I needed explanatory notes, and...Read full review »

Let me preface my comments in disclosing that I am not an architect and it has been some years since I read “A Pattern Language.” I also do not identify as a hippie. I agree with another reviewer that the commenters appear erudite and I’m sure they are competent within their profession. I was...Read full review »

Your podcast on Palladio & Vicenza are great: good memories of such a fine ancient city & Palladios many buildings there and nearby! Douglas

Stumbled on your podcast about 4 months ago & I absolutely adore it! Every episode is pure gold, I savour each detail, aside and rich description. I’m not an architect or designer but it makes no difference, the enjoyment is genuine and listening to both of you clearly enjoying your subject...Read full review »

Excellent podcast that is a fun listen. The guys are wildly informed and exceptional in identifying aspects of architecture in which even a non-architect could be interested.

Exceptionally good. Deeply knowledgeable hosts that are unusually good communicators too. Serves as an essential primer for key architectural and urban ideas, histories and stories.

Great discussion of architectural theory, history and important ideas I rarely get to delve into at work. Fascinating and very enjoyable to listen to.

Good insights and overviews, pithy .. but not TOO pithy. Audio quality and editing has improved greatly from the early eps:)

It’s educative; but seemingly unstructured, you never know what’s around the corner, and every episode surprises in its own, novel ways. The fun and enjoyment is dripping of it. If only architecture wasn’t so horribly unsuitable for an audio medium, but that kind of adds to the absurd casual...Read full review »

As far as I know there are only two architecture podcasts worth listening to, and this is by far the better of the two.

I have several dozens of podcasts that I occasionally listen to, many of them about architecture, but this one really stands out. I enjoy much that the hosts don’t hesitate to go into deep specifics about the buildings discussed and often end up judging them as “strong” or “bad”. The last 11...Read full review »

Great research and analysis. well informed criticism. History and theory unspoiled by the excessive credulity found in most architectural education and media. Very stimulating.

I’m an architect by training and can’t get enough of this show. The visual details and history conveyed in every episode is phenomenal- not to mention George and Luke’s witty commentary. Highly recommend!

This a wide ranging series and the result is mixed. I found the Monastery episodes very interesting becuase they were informed by a deep understanding of the historical and social context. The absence of informed contextualisation made the Jane Jacobs episodes superfical. Some hits, some misses.

I was so excited to have found this podcast, I expected to love it and it has so many great reviews. I've tried a few episodes and oh my goodness, I couldn't like it less. Luke and George have a great chemistry discussing a variety of architectural periods and styles, and I’m particularly a fan of how they interlace a bit of wit and comedy into their commentary. Using texts as a means of launching their discussions is also an appreciated approach, as it gives the...Read full review »

Slicing and dicing the wheat from the chaff of canonical built work, books, and films. A master class of information, critical thinking, and analysis from skeptical and ethical true believers.
enchantedcrock via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/19/20
Hilariously snobby and British this conversational deconstruction of the literature of architecture is savage (though probably warranted) but most of all a heart warming, smart, and screwball appreciation of ideas in and around the built world.
Cal O'Boyle via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/05/20
George and Luke are incredibly fun to listen to. Yes I’m an architecture nerd, but their podcast touches on film, graphic novels, urban design, Renaissance art and connects things in ways I haven’t thought about before.

This is a podcast about Luke and George, and they happen to be talking about everything and more, presented as if just an architecture programme, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Fantastic content, and very engaging presentation. I learned much of this stuff decades ago—bet it would’ve stuck better if I’d heard it from these two. Plus, where does all this fascinating supporting anecdotal info come from?! Love it.
