So much unrealized potential, this show is all over the place.
I’ve been listening to every episode of this show for 3 years now, but I gotta say, I’m exhausted. This show is all over the place, and I regularly find myself wondering if I’m still listening because I enjoy it, or because there are no good Cowboys podcasts and this is the best it gets. A few months ago, I would have told you that Jon Machota is all that was holding this show together. It used to be that Jon was the guy to challenge the other folks on the show and speak up when needed, he had “moxie” and great insight into the team. But over the past few months, he’s gotten downright disrespectful and obnoxious to the other hosts. Every idea someone else has, Jon mocks and tells them why they were wrong. Kent used to be the guy who talked over everyone, but not it’s impossible for anyone to get a word out if Jon has a though he wants to share. He’s aggressive and immediately poo poos on anything the other hosts have to say, and it’s exhausting as a listener. He is consistently smug and has this “know it all” attitude that is just such a major turn off. It’s even more frustrating because he wasn’t always this way, I’m not sure what changed. A prime example is this most recent “Positivity” episode, where the entire idea was to talk about good things Cowboys fans have to look forward to. Every time another person would share what they thought was a “good thing”, Jon had to tell them why they were wrong. I know it’s a tough time to be a Boys fan after this playoff loss, but c’mon. KT Turner is still a great presence on the show, albeit a bit prone to negativity. I would love to hear more from him and Saad. Kent has gotten better about not talking too much and interrupting others (something Jon could learn from) and puts together a good show. I love the intros and would like to see more editing like that throughout the show. So much potential, but I’ll probably be looking for another show to listen to soon. Hopefully they can turn it around and tighten things up.

More reviews of About Them Cowboys
Great show, great production, great guests, great chat, I just enjoy every episode. Somehow they made the lockdown shows bearable when it must have been tough to come up with material. I definitely now know more about their cinematic and musical tastes than I do most NFL podcasters but that’s no...Read full review »

I’ve listened to every episode of About them Cowboys for the past two years, so I feel like I’ve gotten a pretty solid grasp of the shows strengths and weaknesses. Strengths: Jon Machota has great insight into the team, and he isn’t afraid to challenge opinions he disagrees with. Whether you...Read full review »

This is an excellent podcast, at the right level for a Cowboys fan like me who never played football and isn't deeply into the details of all things NFL. I appreciate that the guys don't spend huge amounts of time BSing about their personal lives and get right to the Cowboys content. ...Read full review »
