Paul is a gifted writer and narrator, I have thoroughly enjoyed Alibi. The work, effort, passion and creativity by the production team is clearly reflected in the final product. The stories are compelling, and importantly manage to strike a key balance in being both sensitive to the victims and...Read full review »

Excellent, complex, detailed South African investigative crime show. In season 1, the reporters do not accept what the accused tells them at face value — they investigate it and, at times, they even catch him lying. But is he guilty of the crimes he was convicted of? In season 2, it’s a truly...Read full review »

So little actually happens in this podcast, but they have somehow managed to stretch it out over 8 episodes. Furthermore the parts where the host talks to the journalist sounds so awkwardly scripted and not conversational at all. I am very proud to see a half decent true crime podcast come out of...Read full review »

Africa is not known for podcasts at all, much less well-produced investigative stories. This series changes all that totally. South African author and journalist, Paul McNally, dives deep into rural South Africa and tells an incredible story of some of the most forgotten people on earth. Highly...Read full review »

Really interesting podcast following the story of Anthony - a guy arrested for a crime he says he didn’t commit. Really well narrated, great production, and you get wrapped up in the emotions of both the subject of the series and the narrators. I’d love to hear another series from this show!!

Excellent storytelling by a seasoned journalist in one of the most criminally affected parts of the world. No need for sensationalism, this podcast says it like it is.

Alibi is a thoughtful examination of the people and events that surround a convicted murderer. Is his conviction a miscarriage of justice or is he spinning a story? Each episode delves deeper into the details of the case and unearths new secrets. But there's light down there in the dark. The...Read full review »

Brilliant. Brave. And tragic. A journey through the appalling absurdities of South Africa’s criminal justice system, then and now. The similarities are shocking.

What is really intriguing about Alibi – what drags you in and keeps you listening is that it isn’t a straightforward case. You assume, when someone protests their innocence, that you will listen to the evidence and say: yes, he did it, or no, he didn’t. With Alibi, nothing is quite so clear-cut. ...Read full review »
