Dire
Don't waste your time with this. Listened to a few episodes so you don't have to. There are many way, way better FPL podcasts out there. A few gripes: 1) The 2 hosts don't know much about football. There are lots of claims about players and teams which are just plain wrong and never backed up. They will often also contradict themselves within the same podcast. 2) The 2 hosts don't seem to know anything about modelling or stats or game theory, or strategy. For example when they talk about chip strategy it's very thin they will talk broadly about possible options and then skip to say what they are doing without attempting to justify it. Similarly they use statistics like xG, xA and others, but clearly don't really know what these mean and have just lifted the numbers from some other website, it's quite cringey 2) It's very hot takey overall, they make something up and a rant for a while about. It's a bit like a budget wannabe Skip Bayless and Steven A Smith double act which isn't really to my taste. I guess if you like sports radio this might appeal. 3) Lots and lots of adverts - no problem with them making some cash, but it is a lot compared to most podcasts 4) Brandon, one of the co-presenters, seems to take a backseat for most of the podcast and doesn't say much except for when it comes to referencing the podcast patreon site, at which time he wakes from his slumber to enthuse how many extras are avaible to subscribers - it's great podcasters can montetise their efforts in this way, but it shouldn't overshadow the actual content. 5) The kicker really is that they don't seem to like FPL very much, and it comes across in the podcast, both in terms of a lack of content and info and just a dour presentation. Their theme is to try and 'make fantasy fun again' for listeners, which seems odd as most people playing fantasy football who are dedicated enough to listen to fpl podcasts are doing so as it's already fun for them and are just looking for a bit of escapism and entertainment. The theme just seems to act as a reason for the presenters to whinge about bits of the game they don't like (an extensive list - VAR, too many chips/not enough chips/the wrong chips, game is too much luck/not enough luck, budgeting is wrong, points are wrong, etc etc) and how they want to quit playing, and the whole thing ends up like listening to the pub bore moaning about the state of the world after too many drinks. Overall I get the impression they probably realised fantasy sports was booming (NFL fantasy is huge in the US) and are casual fans of EPL and recognised a potentially lucrative niche in the market for a US based FPL podcast. Then they are run if for a few years enjoying making some money from it and are now realising they don't actually like the subject matter that much or have much to say about it, which then comes across in the quality of the product. I suggest the Cheaters (as they like to be known) give the podcast a break as they keep threatening to do.Read full review »

More reviews of Always Cheating
I listened to this podcast in the hope of finding various tips on how to keep my mistress under wraps and negotiate the murky world of secret liaisons - to which end it was utterly useless. My wife found out and has now left me. However I have now won my mini-league and secured a top 10k finish...Read full review »
