Passive aggressive bias
I can no longer ignore the racially tone-deaf dialogue of these episodes. It is very clear this is told from a white persons perspective and it’s embarrassing. Episode 126 is the last one for me to endure; I stopped the episode and unsubscribed. Then came here to finally write a review so I can purge my self-guilt of ignoring and continuing to listen to this podcast. The description of how the neighborhood was changing (like many neighborhoods in Brooklyn- which was given as a comparison) after “economic down turn” was used AGAIN in this episode. Use the truth so you can stop sounding foolishly ignorant. The neighborhood was being GENTRIFIED - aka it was now seen as having value again because of white peoples’ free will to move their way back into neighborhoods after years of racial profiling, discrimination, neglect etc. etc. , BECAUSE of white flight. Then the comment about the neighborhood wanting more police presence- that was it for me. I can’t and won’t with this podcast anymore. I assume both hosts are intelligent people in their profession. Now it’s time to become racially intelligent especially since their podcast uses people color to make their money. Stop taking advantage of people of color in this podcast until you can figure out how to be honest with yourselves and how you tell the story.
