The mystery is gripping and fulfilling, the dialogue is funny and relatable, and it’s just weird enough to stand out from other fictionalized serial dramas without hitting too-quirky-for-it’s-own-good territory. LGBT rep abounds, and all of the relationships, romantic or otherwise, are fun and work well within the story. I highly recommend giving this a listen, especially with season two now on the way.

Bea and Brenda’s relationship with each other keeps the investigation interesting and the absurd Mr. Wheyface adds great levity. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this so much, but I was drawn in by the story behind the story.
