Marshall is such a great interviewer!!! Love the show!

But have just cancelled monthly support. Cannot listen to another episode of dina interrupting to tell a long pointless story about herself that something the interviewee said reminded her of. Or just stomping on a really thoughtful question Marshall asked, that was in the flow of the...Read full review »

The people interviewing interrupt too much and so the question is never answered. The interviewers also use way too many likes in their speech which makes the podcast extremely unpleasant to listen to. It is too bad because the content is quite valuable.

I love listening while I paint in my home studio in South Africa. There are so many great conversations with skilled artists who go beyond what is ‘trendy’ in the art world. I’ve found comfort in the realisation that all of my own insecurities, doubts and questions are mirrored by the artists I...Read full review »

This show is now the only art podcast I listen to. The presenters are so insightful and ask all the right questions. I recommend it to every artist I know. It is so motivational and interesting.

There are some good episodes but seriously with Colin Chillag? The entire episode consists of some racist dog whistle ideas he’s repeating from the alt right which isn’t questioned or pushed back in any way. Mostly it sounds like a 13 year old attempting to repeat Jordan Peterson ideas and doing...Read full review »

I tried to listen to a few of these. They have wonderful guests, and the casual vibe is nice. But listeners are tuning in to hear the guest artists — not the podcasters. There is too much interruption after a question has been asked. It's disrepectful to the guest and annoying to the listener.Read full review »

Listened to Justin Hopkins being interviewed, (sorry, I left out part of his name…) but did not leave out LOVING listening to how he thinks. As an artist it is manna from heaven to hear so openly and personally, and so concisely about his process, feelings, impetus to create. I’m a fan and will...Read full review »

As much as I love to paint, it can get pretty lonely. Love listening to this podcast whilst I work. It’s become my favourite podcast. Love the banter and the tangents and most of all your passion and enthusiasm for painting. You are helping me get through these crazy times. Thanks a bunch.

Sophia is the best interviewer!
victoya91 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/03/22
These interviewers cut through all the posturing of ‘The Art World’. Dina and Marshall say things that speak to my 30 full time years in the studio, and leave me feeling relieved that I’m not alone in this crazy vocation. They are personal and kind so you respect them for their honesty, and...Read full review »

This is one of my go to studio podcasts. A cup of tea and some fresh paint, listening to tales of the grind during the wee hours of the morning…. It makes life better. :-)

I must say this is the art podcast I listen to most! I have discovered this new treasure of artists and have learned so much from you and your guests. Can’t and I’ll explain why. I love almost everything about this podcast. Both hosts and guests are extremely interesting and passionate about the subjects. That being said, the guy host, Marshall I think?, interrupts the guests way too many times to tell his own story/tangent, that I can tell is...Read full review »

This is a great podcast for artists and art students! There are certain guests who are particularly dynamic speakers (Alex Kanevsky and Wade Schuman for example) and the hosts ask good questions and often offer their own insights and anecdotes. Tim Okamura is an easy listen as he talks about his life and art. I found in general he spoke from a place of fragility and some pain which added a layer of meaning to what he was sharing. This is another interesting discussion on race and it’s role and Power in the art world.

I enjoy this while painting. The one with Anastasia was especially interesting. Wonderful to get a listen into the minds of artists and how they think about not only art but life itself. How the artist mind analyzes things. I enjoy the various backgrounds of artists. Also the one where they go...Read full review »

Interesting discussions. The interviewers have matured since the beginning. However, there is one pronounced irritant. Matthew constantly interjects noises, “hmmhmm”, in acknowledgment; that’s annoying. I’d rather just hear the artist interviewed than these obnoxious, unnecessary noises. It feels...Read full review »

Particularly liked the Mario Robinson interview which got into interesting discussions about Robinson’s particular path to becoming an artist but also speaks to the barriers all of us face in becoming artists in the face of a not always enthusiastic family and society.

Love the in-depth discussion with artists and how great conversations arise when interviewers respond to the artwork as they talk to the artists that create it.

...but I had to because the guest speaker Joe on episode 12 had no idea about animal empathy.
