I like this show but some of the speakers (looking at you Peter Lewis the stats guy) either need to go or to stop thinking theyre a comedic genius and stick to the facts - listening to someone build up for 30 seconds to a subpar joke because they like the sound of their own voice constantly turns...Read full review »

I am just listening to Jane Hume. Does she really believe in what she says? Please! The electorate isn’t as stupid as she thinks we are.

It makes sense about the limitations of truth in political advertising. I am not sure shifting the blame to online platforms is totally accurate. Traditional media has played an active role in misinformation and disinformation. I believe most people know not to trust a politician completely. What...Read full review »

Absolutely brilliant podcast with Alan Kohler - everyone should be listening to this pod. Thanks Katharine.

I was looking for balance and a centrist approach to journalism here. Suggest you look elsewhere - this show lacks objectivity IMHO

Incredibly biased interviews focusing on left-wing politics, and openly shaming those of right-wing opinion.

Katharine Murphy after the referendum failure : “ majority of Australians failed an empathy test; the majority of Australians failed a grace test…” It is precisely this sort of sanctimonious, condescending, self righteous hubris that caused the referendum to fail. Yes voters like this torpedoed...Read full review »

Hard-left propaganda (not news or dialectics) with hosts that have no shred of humility.

Fabulous conversation with the PM re the Voice. My fear is that being connected to the Guardian he is preaching to the converted. I don’t do social media so I don’t know what’s going on in that platform, but I don’t understand why journalists aren’t putting to Peter Dutton the things that the...Read full review »

What a great interview. It’s always of such value to the listener when a respectful journalist allows enough rope for person being interviewed to reveal themselves. That happened here in spades. Katherine Murphy is one skilled lady. Her interrogation was masterly and respectful.
EmjayJG via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 09/25/23
I do have a great deal of respect for Katherine’s journalistic prowess and acknowledge that as a left publication, The Guardian can craft its podcasts the way it wishes, however the last three casts have been just too much. The chat (won’t call it an interview) with the Treasure was so softball,...Read full review »

Thank you so much Katherine for your interview with Sussan Ley, the Deputy Leader of the opposition…wonderful work (as usual). In brief, I found the majority of her responses to your poignant questioning disappointingly lacklustre & without much substance. Her responses to the questions...Read full review »

Katherine you were very professional interviewing Sussan Ley. I found her discussion regarding the Voice extremely disappointing. How did you keep your cool?

Pat Dodson is such a beautiful, gracious and wise man. Thank you for such a tender interview. I think everyone is feeling emotional at the moment. Beautifully handled and great to hear your voice again!

Thank you for your mammoth service to truth and quality analysis in these challenging times. Trusted sources such as the BBC, Guardian and ABC will emerge from this as pillars of strength - more so than most government sources. You are what will hold us together. Littleproud talked about improving the environment and biodiversity If he was being honest, I have newfound respect. I can’t stand Barnaby Joyce. I’ve listened to this podcast for some time now. I’ve found you very considerate, civil and at times a little too nice to the guests, but that changed for worse in this interview with the PM. Catherine King was fabulous in this podcast - totally across her brief. A pleasure to listen to a sensible, knowledgeable Minister

Sarah Martin is currently hosting the podcast while Katherine Murphy is away writing. While her questions are very good, she feels it necessary to go 'mmm','mmm','mmm' to show that she's listening to the interviewee. It's a bit annoying.Read full review »
Unashamed Elitism via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 09/17/22
Like the Guardian itself, their podcast does not even an attempt to be objective, fair or balanced. Don’t call it “Australian Politics” as if it’s some kind of well rounded discussion, when it’s just one-sided bias echo chamber.

It is so refreshing to hear the “adults in the room” discussing what is happening in politics & the economy. It’s done is a “fun” manner that does not diminish the gravity of the situation & what is coming down the track. PS I can remember the 1960 “credit squeeze” & every subsequent...Read full review »

In a country where it seems like most of the media is only interested in chasing the story of the day, or puts out provocative and dramatic headlines for a few clicks, The Guardian is seemingly the only independent media company which actually has any sense. Very interesting convo. I like the length. The polling podcast also created food for thought. So much is riding on this election for me including the position of treatment of women in the workplace, and the treatment of women who are older can’t find work and have no financial, and housing security.

This is a great podcast and even when I’m not that interested in the topic it draws me in.
