“I have sampled nearly all of the history podcasts that are rated highly on iTunes, but never felt like any of them had what I wanted. Finally, I came across Backstory and gave it a shot before finally giving up on my history podcast quest.
HUZZAH! These three guys have a great energy between them and their unique way of looking at current events/topics through a historical perspective works and works well. Each podcast has been informative, interesting and entertaining. I especially enjoy the random topics, such as the history of heating and cooling.
I only wish the producers would not ask them to speak about the holidays as they come along. There are too many of them and they happen every year. Boring! Why use up the one monthly show topic with something as boring as a holiday. I feel like it takes away from the uniqueness of this show. Also, it's too obvious. I enjoy the less obvious topics and I feel that the hosts do as well. Though, they do somehow manage to make the topics more interesting than expected. I'm hoping I don't hear about the Fourth of July again this year, or next year - Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day etc.”Read full review »
