Well done, BUT…
I read her book The Five and fully enjoyed it, so it pains me to say that as a podcast host I find her to be extraordinarily smug at times. This attitude was not apparent in her book, so I was a bit taken aback and it leaves me with ambivalent feelings in regards to rating this. I really appreciate her take on things and feel she has done great research, but ultimately I also feel like she herself does just what she accuses with great disdain all the lowly “Ripperologists” of doing: using information to paint a specific narrative. There is only so much information available from this part of history. That said, her research and take on these crimes comes from a new and necessary perspective, highlighting the victims instead of their famed killer, whose story has been dissected and theorized a thousand times over.

This is such a good podcast! Hallie Rubenhold is telling a story everyone should know about since Jack’s side is all you ever hear. Plus, she’s a wonderful narrator. She is pleasant on the ears, so knowledgeable on the subject and the story is put together very well. Please listen!
