A must listen for Veterans Day and beyond
At last count, there are more than 2 million podcasts available. About 10 are the equal of this one and as we approach Veteran’s Day, no one is more relevant. While expertly produced, well researched, informative, insightful and entertaining, the reason to listen, to stay with the men of Easy Company from Camp Toccoa to the Eagle’s Nest is the host Roger Bennett. As with his other podcast, the beloved ‘Men in Blazers’ hosted with Michael Davies, Bennett is a uniquely perfect narrator. An English native and a recently naturalized American citizen, Bennett has both an appreciation of someone who lived in a country who while not liberated by the men featured in the mini series whose freedom was preserved by their heroism as well as someone with deep and resonant pride in what his adopted country achieved. Like ‘Men in Blazers’, Bennett’s love of the subject and fascination with the exploits of Messers Winters, Spears, Nixon, Guarnere, Compton, Powers, Roe, et.al. carries the listener along as he asks the questions of his guests that we would want to ask “how did you get the part or writing assignment?”, “how did you prepare and what did you learn from the preparation and the experience”, “how has your participation stayed with you”, etc. For those of us who love the mini series and never stop shaking our heads at the screen going “how did they preserve through that?”, this podcast has established itself as a parachute flare illuminating the scene and setting the context for what we are about to see in each episode never giving away more than is needed to be awestruck once the Men of Easy speak to us and Michael Kamen’s haunting and soaring score begins. As an Army veteran who thanks the Almighty every day that my father who patrolled the jungles in Guam for guerilla fighters in 1945 at war’s end was not killed or wounded nor that I never saw combat, Band of Brothers (as does Saving Private Ryan) stands as a reminder of what war costs and what it means to fight if not for your country, but for your fellow brothers in arms. Thanks to Roger and his team.

It’s way more than a job or another thing he is hosting to him , he reads avidly on all things war and is a very humble and intelligent guy . Hats off to everyone on making a...Read full review »

Love the series and was so excited for this but the audio quality of the interviews is a problem. This is a professional production and needs to do better. I am not going to spend hours struggling to understand every sentence.
