Fun
It’s a fun podcast. I listen to it to fall asleep or when walking my dog. I just wish it was one long story instead of two short ones. It’s hard to get into stories that are only 12 minutes long. If the full 30-40 minute podcast was one story it would hold my attention longer. I don’t mind the...Read full review »

Love this podcast, including the voice. Pitch perfect for me to fall asleep and listen to the bit I miss in the morning.

I’ve been watching the youtube Bedtime Stories for several years now and was so happy to find you on podcast. You tell a good story and the narration is easy to listen to, I love it! Keep up the good work!

Good stories, but I can’t get over the narration. Every time he gets done talking he ends with the same tone and it’s driving me insane.

The stories are ok but the narrator’s voice is a little flat so sometimes I struggle to keep myself interested which is a shame. It would be nice if he could maybe inject a bit of his personality into his storytelling.
skairdykat via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/28/24
Love the stories. The narrator has a great speaking voice, but the weird inflection makes it hard to listen to. Every sentence ends like a question, sounding very robotic. There is another podcast where the guy does the same thing ( Unexplained with Richard McKean Smith. )

Love anything to do with mr.ballen but I hate the voice used to deliver these stories it’s so easy to lose my attention to the story.
tommiedadonn via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/27/24
Just want to jump in here to give positive feedback on the narrator’s voice/delivery. I am highly sensitive to most auditory stimuli, and can listen to this podcast BECAUSE of the delivery - calm, even, appropriately inflected - I’ve been listened since the beginning (like, when they had their...Read full review »

Fully agree with some other reviews re the narration. Love Mr Ballen’s output, love these X-Files type stories, and even prefer British accents over North American for 99% of my media content, but dang, sorry sir. That robotic, detached newsreader, 3-note inflection I find really hard to handle,...Read full review »

I’ve followed Bedtime stories since it began around 2017 if I had nothing better to do I would always listen to this channel and also follow on YouTube it was great and very well presented. The stories always caught my imagination and like a good book I could never just listen to one story I had...Read full review »

Love pretty much all things Ballen. Love podcasts like this. I wanted to get into this one as well but the Narrator’s inflection is unbearable. Great voice, but the rhythm/delivery is very hard to listen to. Especially for a podcast branded for bedtime listening
EarthlingChild via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/08/24
Love love love Mr. Ballen and the ghost stories are cool but the narrator tone is hard to listen to and now it’s all random alien stuff. Feh.
BHOLLIHAN via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/08/24
Lately the episodes are very much about alien encounters which has been done over and over, so they are very uninteresting to me. The stories are rife with dumb conspiracy theories but are easily debunked or have alternate explanations which the narrator skims over. These are the type of stories...Read full review »

I wanted to like this podcast, but I couldn’t finish one episode due to the narrator’s upspeak at the end of every sentence.

I've been listening to Bedtime Stories on YouTube for a while now, and I used to love them. I haven't listened as much recently but my favourite stories are the paranormal ones, less so the cryptid tales and conspiracy theories. I'm glad I've found the podcast- hoping it's a...Read full review »

Could listen if it wasn’t read in a tone as if it was a news broadcast. Literally sounds like a news update. Hard to get into any of the stories.

Love to start listening at low volume when I am going to bed and have the setting to go off at the end of the episode. It’s very relaxing and I go to sleep quickly.

Long time listener and avid Bedtime Stories fan- but pump the brakes on the UFO/ranch stories. I feel like half the eps lately deal with Skinwalker Ranch.

I love those kind of stories that keep you up at night horrified, I find it better without disturbing pictures, and you should do the Russian sleep experiment.

On YouTube Mr. Ballen narrates part of the stories to be featured on here and leaves you hanging to hear the rest on this podcast. I always come straight and am eager to hear the story but the actual narrator’s tone and rhythm are SOOO BAD it distracts me from the story and I can never finish the...Read full review »

I love Bedtimes Stories and was a fan right from the start. The show disappeared for a time and came back….almost the same…but not quite. Now under the Ballen Studios umbrella it seems to me as though they've been told to make the epsidodes longer. Padded out unecessarily. And there in lies...Read full review »

Good narration, good delivery. I am one of those weirdos who listens to these types of stories before bed, and I love this podcast. To those who are confused- Rich has been doing this for years. This is not something Mr. Ballen came up with, they are simply part of Ballen studios now. This was one of my favorite podcasts. Then about a year or more ago the frequency of new episodes began to wane. The YouTube channel became the only platform where new stories were posted. Then it relaunched under Ballen Studios and I was quite excited to hear new stories but unfortunately ALL of...Read full review »

I’m afraid the narrator sounds dreadful. If he’s trying to sound creepy, he fails. He sounds more like an AI bot

I listened to the original podcast and am so glad this is back! Love the 2 part format, the stories are so interesting and actually very creepy in parts. I listen to lots of paranormal/mystery podcasts and this is one of the best for sure.

If you have been a fan of bedtime stories for a long time like myself and were disappointed when they stopped putting the new episodes on the pod and only their YT channel, this is what you’ve been waiting for. Have been a follower of Bedtime Stories since its original launch on YT. Podcast format works well and the storytelling is without the usual overdramatised effects, chilling tales told with enthusiasm and of course atmosphere. Highly recommended

Just can’t. Too much like all the other wannabe true crime shows. Poor Mr. Ballen is going down the wrong road here. Everyone just wants more of his YouTube videos but he seems to be drifting further and further away. I’m afraid he will self destruct at the rate he is going. He means well but no...Read full review »

Ballen Studios needs something original. The telling old stories new ways is tired. I tried Run Fool and Bedtime stories. Was the goal that I sleep through so it just played the whole thing? Two thumbs up then. But it’s a miss for me. Imagine if I’d listened in traffic.
John Door Smithinstein via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/16/23
I’ve tried couple of episodes but the way the stories are tell makes me change it. Maybe if it would have a little bit more of enthusiasm. Mr Ballen should try telling couple of stories on BED TIME STORIES, To hear the supporters opinions then.

I’m absolutely loving the new format of this YouTube channel’s podcast, featuring two captivating stories every week. The narrator’s voice and storytelling skills are truly excellent, making each episode a delight to listen to. With this new weekly schedule, I eagerly anticipate each installment.

I really tried, but I just can’t get past the monotone voice. There’s no emotion behind the story telling which actually makes it hard to follow and keep my interest
