Everything has changed but it has been like that since time immemorial
I just listened to the interview with James Pollock. He seems to have had a very interesting career so far, but as an engineer who has been in the profession since the 80’s I can tell you that what he said about change is nothing new. Engineering has always been a race to keep up with changing technology. I think that is part of the excitement. Keeping up with the latest advances in your field and implementing new technologies is always challenging. The comment about University courses is also something close to my heart. The foundation knowledge doesn’t change a great deal but the implementation does. I feel that University courses have a responsibility to deliver that basic knowledge, teach students how to learn for themselves and inspire them to go beyond the currently set boundaries. All in all a very good interview. Keep up the good work. Cheers (and beers) Mike James (interview #3)
