“I love the podcast, but i do need to call out the severe lack of objectivity and frequent inaccurate implications that come from robert’s editorialization.
Most recently in my listening, robert cites a study comparing competitive archers to competitive shooters which noted competitive shooters have higher blood lead levels yet according to Robert, both are exposed to similar amounts of lead because he thinks most bullets are jacketed and don’t expose you to much lead. I am a former competitive shooter and i can say unequivocally that this is false. MOST bullets are jacketed at the front but leave the BASE of the lead bullet exposed inside the casing. When fired, the fireball of burning powder is directly exposed to the burning powder and vaporizes. It is well documented that lead vapor in shooting ranges is an incredibly high risk factor for increasing blood lead levels. Indoor shooting ranges are required to have reactive filters and high airflow to eliminate this vapor to avoid exposing customers and their employees to toxic levels. Outdoor ranges are not regulated, and it is well known that competitive shooters have much higher blood lead levels. Since this is true across the board regardless of whether shooters handle un-coated lead bullets, lead vapor is the clear cause.
This is just one example of Robert’s frequent editorial errors. To be clear, he is not claiming his theory is a fact, but the editorial conclusion he draws is extremely incorrect. I find this to be a frequent occurrence in his editorial comments and have realized that i must take none of them at face value if they are in a field away from my personal knowledge.”
