Great Content Delivered by Po-Faced Irritants.
I absolutely love the content of this podcast. Not just an analysis of the best picture winner of a certain year, but the story of the year in film. The other contenders, stories from the ceremony, developments in movie making and technology, all manner of fascinating trivia. However… You would travel a long way before you encountered three more annoying hosts. The two guys are interchangeable, I don’t know one from the other. Just Poshboy know-it-alls who agree with each other on absolutely everything. The female presenter is from the Aisling Bea/Sharon Horgan “did I mention I’m Irish?“ school. Never a week goes by that they don’t criticise John Wayne for his political leanings. In the most recent one I heard, they even tore down notorious fascist, Jimmy Stewart, war hero, and obviously a right-wing nut! The tut-tutting, finger-wagging and lecturing about how evil WE all were 90 years ago, is extremely wearing. Remember, how we refused to allow women to become stars? How we denied black people decent roles? By the end of each podcast, you’re hanging your head in shame. I have avoided the recent Oscar winners, as I’m not a fan of any of them, but, the above misgivings aside, the episodes about the 70s winners and older movies are a great listen… If you can somehow tune out the presenters.

I couldn’t disagree more with some previous reviews claiming that all three presenters share the same opinions, that’s very clearly not the case. They...Read full review »

I’ll be honest- I didn’t think this would be for me- as I know nothing about film. But it’s fascinating and meticulously researched. I had no idea there was so much craziness going on in the background of filmmaking and the academy awards. Has given me a whole lot more films on my list to see-...Read full review »
