Mike Periu has 20 years of experience in finance and technology. He is an angel investor and serves as an advisor to NerdWallet, the leading provider of financial content and SaaS tools for consumers in the U.S. He also serves a business mentor for Endeavor, an international non-profit accelerator for high-impact entrepreneurs. Mike also advises RetailApp, developer of a revolutionary mobile-based SaaS technology which will transform the retail industry. Mike founded Proximo, a developer of web-based educational programs that included content development, LMS development and program administration. The company developed, launched and managed multiple online universities on behalf of clients including the U.S. Department of State. Previously, Mike was the co-founder of Posip in 2000, a pioneer in the development of web-based software (known as Application Services Providers at the time). Posip developed and launched a suite of applications for retail chains that included POS, CRM and inventory management software. The company grew organically in South America until its sale in 2007. Mike began his career at the International Finance Corporation, a member company of the World Bank Group. He worked as an investment analyst executing privatization transactions in Central America, Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. Transactions spanned the energy, banking and telecommunications sectors. Mike previously served on the Board of Directors of the Council for Economic Education which serves over 5 million students annually and was a Fellow at the Kauffman Foundation for Entrepreneurship. He lives in Miami and is fully bilingual (English/Spanish). He has published over 1,000 articles and conducted over 500 interviews since 2003 on finance for small businesses, startups and consumers.
