Another strung out bbc podcast that doesn’t seem to get anywhere , I’m not an ex detective but , I think I could have found him by now !!!! Get the finger out

Both the ‘Staircase’ and ‘Kevin Parle.’ Needs better writing, critical thinking, summaries of witness statements, sequencing of facts / events ... and ... Needs A LOT of audio ‘clean-up.’ Phone interviews are scratchy, mumbling, veer off tract and just plain annoying. I’ve listened to other...Read full review »

This is brilliant, I can’t wait for it to come back! When are new episodes due?

Lost all its momentum (understandably) but was enjoying . Thought an interim update episode would have helped but gone cold .

Got to episode 8, was quite enjoying it but doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and they play the same clips over and over, each episode would otherwise be about 10mins!!

Was enjoying this Podcast before lockdown, hope you will be back with an update very soon.

Had to stop listening in episode 3. Couldn’t listen to the presenter any more, all about himself.

I’ve enjoyed listening to this pod cast on my commute to work. Why has this stopped and do you plan to comeback soon ?
celynbach via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 05/14/20
I also enjoyed these podcasts but found sometimes it went unnecessarily off track with what appeared to be unrelated matters; wild musical interludes; and repetitive information. C’mon Peter, get this sorted and concluded.

I’ve quite enjoyed this podcast and as it hasn’t been on for 3 weeks wonder what the hell is going on! Nothing to report as on lockdown or has podcast been stopped?

I normally enjoy the BBC investigative podcasts, but I am rather disappointed with this one. Although an interesting topic, this show seems to be more about the host than about the person he’s looking for.
MagicLlama97 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/28/20
Not worth the time spent listening. A whole episode about the host who is never off TV and radio. Stick to fake TV manhunts

I have enjoyed each episode of this great podcast. It's local to my hometown so the characters are identifiable. The question is will the subject ever be apprehended ?Read full review »

If you like hunted on tv you’ll love this, if you don’t or are Kevin Parle you hate it.
Martin164swift via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/21/20
I actually love the style of this podcast. It’s not a polished article - but that’s what makes it good - it feels more authentic than a lot of other “true crime” podcasts. It’s also refreshing to be in the middle of a live series of events - there isn’t a prescribed finish to how this will end....Read full review »

The author is on an ego trip.... every time he talks every second work is either “I”, “me” mine”..... has become very boring!
Can't watch via Apple Podcasts · Ireland · 04/09/20
Peter Bleksley says his investigation isn’t about ego. I guess that’s why there is an entire episode on... um, himself? I know more about Peter than I do about the subject of this podcast. It’s a slow, slow, slow burn, with not much to keep you engaged. I had to will myself through each episode...Read full review »

An ego-trip for the author. Lost interest by the second episode, it’s all about the TV cop while providing no information on the actual story. Turgid.
Chuck Komek via Apple Podcasts · Ireland · 04/02/20
Interesting hunt for a man i had never heard of. Lead by Peter Bleksley who is great at this side of things and has managed to keep his investigation going despite the country being in lockdown.
Bradf11 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/02/20
If you ever wondered if TV’s “Hunted” was a set up, this’ll prove it. Multiple episodes that basically have about 10 mins of some bloke saying “you seen this fella?”. Useless.
Cragswinter via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/20/20
As an avid podcast listener this is possibly the worst Podcast I’ve ever endured. So many episodes of nothing but padding about Peter himself and very little about the criminal (Kevin Parle). Like listening to Phil Mitchell bang on about how good he used to be for hours.
Boom8888 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/19/20
I’m sure there’s a good investigative story around this subject but it has been totally butchered by this podcast. This podcast is not about Kevin Parle........it’s all about Peter Beskley (“I was a copper/nobody scares me/I will find anyone/I’ve got contacts everywhere.....blah blah blah)
Punter_No1 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/16/20
Presenter far too obsessed with fluffing him self up. Great idea, poorly executed

Love this series. Brilliant story and great rhythm to the way it’s told.

Very brave investigative reporting tracking a real life murderer. These guys are putting themselves into some dangerous situations. Give it a listen. Well worth it.
SlightlyAnnoyed3 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 03/14/20
Listened to most of the first episode and couldn’t believe how crap it was. The presenter, who’s name I’ve thankfully forgotten, is just an idiotic media chancer. Gave up on it and then jumped to the 7th episode to see if it develops - but no, the preamble to the show mostly included clips that...Read full review »

As a woman, I just had to come on here to express sheer frustration at episode 15. Not with the podcast makers but with MP. Most people will have heard of The Staircase case (like hello, we all have Netflix and if you’re into true crime you can’t NOT know about it) so to hear MP try and make an...Read full review »

There’s a lot of bad reviews but I think this podcast has done its job in raising awareness of a fugitive. Perhaps there are 2 sides to this story, but he’s on the run and not able to tell it. This made me look up his picture and memorise his face and I hope it has for many others too. Really...Read full review »

I devastatingly wastes an hour of my time listening to this. The pod is more about the narrators ego than the actual story. The story is bland and repetitive and you get a real sense that they’re just trying to fill time Avoid!

Absolute waste of time. The story went nowhere and seemed to just end at a random point. Really disappointing. Will avoid BBC podcasts in future I think.

The latest episode took us no further forward in finding the fugitive. Very disappointing to wait a week for the next chapter only to still be where we were the week before. Will give it one more episode.

Seriously, just the intro is enough to put you off. I’ve listened to many true crime podcasts over the years and this made me cringe from the start. To the producers, a bit of class and dignity please. You can do this!

First of all, I think it’s wrong Manhunt: Finding Kevin Parle was tagged on to Beyond Reasonable Doubt. I appreciate that’s an easy way to gain an audience but it’s also disingenuous and perhaps something you might do if you didn’t think your podcast was good enough to capture an audience...Read full review »

Had this podcast started out admitting it aimed to be the foil to (pro-Peterson) The Staircase, I wouldn’t have minded; it’s entitled to take whatever line it likes. However, in good old BBC style, it holds itself out as impartial but assumes impartial account means just giving airtime to people...Read full review »

I thoroughly enjoyed The Staircase doc but that was definitely told from supporters of Michael Peterson. Beyond Reasonable Doubt goes the other way but I think it’s done fairly enough and balances out pretty negative portrayals of certain people (Candace is a prime example). I think it adds to...Read full review »

After watching the documentary and reading into the case myself, this podcast is incredibly biased and doesn’t give the full facts on both sides. Too much time is given to Kathleen’s sister, who I don’t find credible at all. Not saying he is 100% innocent, just saying way too much reasonable...Read full review »

This podcast is the definition of mediocre. Some parts are well done. The pacing is terrible. There is a lot of repetition. The case has been covered much better elsewhere.
