“This podcast is an attempt by this journalist at “balancing” the story about Kathleen Peterson, and the conviction and subsequent legal proceedings of her husband Michael Peterson. I’m a lawyer and have worked in the social justice space for over 30 years. I’ve watched all of the works of Jean-Xavier de Lestrade about this story and others. I have been a mediator for 30 years so I am well equipped to sit neutrally and hear stories and to not take sides.
This podcast is so painful. The journalist Christopher Ernest John (“Chris”) Warburton approaches this human tragedy with a sanctimonious, insincere narrative that alludes to skewed story telling in the first telling of this as it was playing out in real time. Sure, he has some Interviews with family, judges and former prosecuters which was kind of interesting but his experts were clearly problematic and the repetition of content was just boring.
His attempt to gossip about the vulnerabilities and alcoholism experienced by the now deceased Freda Black was just sickening. And while I was no fan of the way she conducted herself during the trail, it makes my stomach churn as I heard and felt the smugness of Warburton in front of a live audience.
I’m glad I listened to it all because I know I will never recommend this journalist’s reporting to anyone. And I would never recommend this podcast because all in all, just rubbish.”
