Absolutely needed!
This podcast is essential for all Catholics. There are thousands of Catholic podcasts out there, but most tend to cover the same typical topics. What makes this podcast unique, fresh, and necessary is its subject matter. Like many Catholics and secularists, we often think of Catholicism as primarily associated with Rome, envisioning traditional Latin Masses or Novus Ordo Masses, and focusing on the Western Church. However, Catholicism encompasses not just one church, but 24, with six rites. Each of these 24 churches is unique, with its own culture, liturgy, and laws. I personally discovered this diversity a few years ago when I stumbled upon a Maronite Church in my area. It transformed my entire perspective on Catholicism. I am now learning more and more, and I appreciate the purpose of this podcast: to help us understand our faith by exploring its roots in the East. Jerusalem and the surrounding areas, such as Lebanon and Jordan, are central to where Jesus lived and taught. I had never heard of the Armenian Church until this podcast, and I was amazed to learn that Armenia was the first Catholic nation, even before Rome. This podcast covers these topics with a depth that no other podcast matches.

Quality Christian content about the Middle East is hard to find, but “Beyond Rome” and the Philos Project generally are filling the gap with excellent information. This podcast has the potential to be an antidote to Catholic antisemitism (which is far too prevalent in 2024), as it attempts to...Read full review »
