“This is a great podcast and really built suspense and tension. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the finale to understand exactly what had been going on and uh I’m conflicted writing this but ultimately the ending completely switched me off.
Spoiler Alert Below!
The dodgy towns people mixed with some weird superstition/supernatural definitely had me hooked. What it boiled down to was so much less and ultimately just resorted to the same story of women being abused. I don’t write that to sound disrespectful of abuse, in fact it’s the opposite. It’s such an easy option and clearly it is meant to shock and disturb but can we stop using that narrative so readily. As soon as it got to that element I switched off completely which is a shame as up to then I really loved it. I just wish we could stop using the abuse of women to achieve shock and disgust lazily without there being any kind of positive message or empowerment behind it.”
