“I first stumbled on these guys when I found out that Ruiz Joshua 2 was heading to Saudi. The boxing media at large just seemed to skate over the significance of this and the fact that, for me, it seemed like this was the death knell for DAZN. I found these guys and they gave a very in depth explanation for what was going on, why the fight was moving there, what Saudi was getting from it etc. It was considerably more informative than anything I’ve gotten from the boxing media. I began following the guys and found that they have been consistently correct in ALL their predictions. They saw the money issues for Teo-Loma, the lack of pay per view buys for Crawford Khan, and the flaws in DAZN’s business model, especially the fact that without PPV they’re leaving money on the table. Far from it being a Monday morning quarterback situation, these guys called it very early, and all the problems with DAZN were listed as early as Eddie Hearn’s big launch.
The primary criticism people have of them is that they are pro PBC. Before I wrote this I did a little digging to see if that was the case, and if you actually listen to the podcasts they did prior to PBC getting the Fox deal they were very bearish on the PBC and generally didn’t see them as a success story. Only since the Fox deal and the Spence Garcia fight sellling so well have the guys here been bullish on the PBC.
Boxing media is typically very poor, with journalists being very aligned to promoters. If you want to understand what’s behind the scenes in boxing, these guys are the best to listen to. I’d recommend.”
