Pastor Lloyd Pulley will begin our study in just a moment as we continue with Lloyd’s new series called “Christian Growth and Development”. We will be looking at several scriptures today, beginning with First Thessalonians chapter five. This section of Scripture contains instruction about life in the church. Paul’s words are very practical, basic, and as we are about to see, very straightforward.  We’re talking about how we’re to live and relate and to serve each other in the church.

Today we’ll again be in the fifth chapter of Ephesians for a look at marriage relationships. This message is part of a ten message series from Pastor Lloyd titled “Christian Growth and Development”. It’s been pointed out before that God says very little in the Bible specifically about marriage. The reason is that if we incorporate the rest of God’s word into our marriages, then we really don’t need a whole lot more to go on!

What does it really mean to “love” someone? We certainly have some examples on TV and at the movie theater of what love isn’t. But if we want to find out what love really is, we need only go to God’s word. We’ll be looking today at the Lord’s commandment to “Love your neighbor as yourself”. It’s one of the toughest things for us selfish humans to do.

As we look at Matthew chapter four, we come across a scene that is familiar to most Christians. Jesus is fasting in the wilderness and is tempted repeatedly by satan. It’s in this area of life we sometimes make a mistake. It’s not a sin to be tempted - the sin comes when we succumb to that temptation! How did Jesus handle the temptation from satan?

Today we’re going to continue pastor Lloyd’s series called “Christian Growth and Development”. There are many important aspects to being a Christian, and one of the most important things we do is share our faith with others. The topic again today is prayer, and the great privilege we have to go before the Lord and share our hearts’ desires. Prayer should not be a wish list, as if we were ordering Christmas gifts on Amazon. But what should prayer be? If we truly look at prayer as a great privilege, it will change the way we pray.

Today we’ll return to the gospel of Matthew, chapter four, where we see Jesus spend forty days in the wilderness being tempted by satan. We can never expect to have the spotless record Jesus had when it comes to surviving temptation, but if we are to effectively lead the unsaved toward Christ, we need to rely on the strength and power of God!

Have you ever considered prayer as a privilege? Too often we treat prayer as a means to tell God what we need materially, or as a last resort in times of trial. When we do that, we are completely missing the point. We’ll start out today In Matthew seven

Today we’ll return to Lloyd’s new series called “Christian Growth and Development”, as we continue  to learn how to make the power of the Holy Spirit a constant part of our lives. One way to make the power of the Holy Spirit a part of our lives is to understand the basics of who He is, where He comes from and what He’s doing. I think you’ll agree that of the three persons of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is the least understood. Stay with us as we get to know Him better!

You and I never know when an opportunity will come up to share the good news of salvation through Christ, so, as the Boy Scouts say, we should “be prepared”. But we also need to approach those opportunities with the right attitude and tone. Our country is in desperate need of a change of heart, and the gospel message of salvation through Jesus Christ is what can make that change. That’s what today’s message is all about - sharing the gospel the right and effective way.

How do we reach these people without offending them or alienating them? John chapter four will be our focus. The way Jesus approached and shared with the woman at the well serves as a great model for us.

Many religions today purport to tell the truth and many people believe them - and turns out to be a lie. As we consider heaven and hell today, it’s important for us to remember that there is only one truth - the truth found in God’s word. Heaven is a real and wonderful place. Hell is a real and terrible place. How do we get to heaven? Does God really send people to hell? These are common questions today, and pastor Lloyd is here to answer them.

False teachers abound in today’s world. Whether they’re disguised in a slick media package like Oprah, or a much more subtle deception like we see popping up from time to time, they’re equally dangerous. The true gospel message is a very simple message - Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. He bridged the gap between man and God by dying on a cross, and through faith in Him, we are saved. Simple. Our message from pastor Lloyd today is titled “Sin and Salvation”.
