“This podcast was just fabulous. Like you I’m now a bit in love with him.
I grew up in Glasgow at the same time as Douglas and at times I found shuggie Bain a difficult read.
I also had my struggles with alcohol and squirmed a bit when reading about how Agnes concealed her drinking.
Please keep up the good work Bryony. Your podcasts make me feel normal.

Just to say you are probably peri menopausal.
When I was 47 I went to a British doctor here in Abu Dhabi and was prescribed Prozac and told to take it 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. I didn’t question.
I knew nothing about anti depressants so blindly went along with her instructions.
The ensuing couple of years saw me actually becoming depressed and at times suicidal.
I eventually saw another doctor who didn’t question the Mis management of Prozac and immediately put me on citalopram.
The last three years have seen me struggling to find myself again. Turning to alcohol just for peace !
Thankfully I did find myself again with a lot of hard work.
So just be aware because doctors know even less about peri menopause than they do about mental health. !”
