Good insight, dramatic
Very interesting going into the world of an investigative journalist but at points this podcast appears to be defending American foreign policy. For instance, chapter 8, the journalists suggests that there’s a dilemma between military intervention and non intervention drawing on the Syrian war as an example of how the latter can impact the world. However, the Syrian war involved significant covert support from various American security agencies which actually perpetuated the war so actually there was intervention. Similarly, an earlier chapter, citing a Iraqi civilian, suggested that the coalition’s intervention into Hussein’s Iraq was welcomed; I’m sure it was but the reason for that intervention had nothing to do with stopping a dictator. Had he remained a loyal lapdog we would’ve allowed his regime to continue. The point being the top five permanent members of the UN Security Council love war, it’s profitable, and through a compliant media they’re able to behave self righteous. So this would be a far better podcast without that commentary

Just heard the first episode via NYTimes preview for subscribers and was blown away. I want to hear more of this story and I want to hear more about the journalist- she seems amazing.

The show is super interesting! I cannot wait to listen to the rest of it. Note: the New York Times gave its subscribers early access to two episodes of the show.
