The Star Wars Story I've Always Wanted
I'm relistening to this podcast from the beginning right now. It's not something I do with any other podcasts but it is something I do with my favorite books or movies. It's not something I do when I just like a story, but it's what I do when I love a cast of characters and want to re-experience their adeventures with them. That's not to say this some life changing experience but it's just the fun of being around people who are funny, enjoy being around each other, are true Star Wars fans, and have created characters who seem too real sometimes. This podcast (combined with the One Shot episodes) creates a Star Wars story that isn't overly concerned with paying homage to the movies (though it does) and isn't so caught up with canon (even if they joke about it sometimes) but is more concerned with humor and being cool in that way you feel when your playing a sandlot game and point out to the back fence before you bat then hit the homerun. I've always wanted a Star Wars story that was more concerned with its characters than strict 'Star Wars' plots and has humor that really makes me laugh not because it's funny but because it's something funny that character WOULD say. Kat Murphy has done a wonderful job of putting this campaign and podcast together which sounds as professional as the most well-produced podcasts on iTunes. James D’Amato, Johnny O’Mara, and John Patrick Coan's chemistry is amazing and I love hearing them banter about vetos every week it seems. And without naming favorites (it's Leenik), I enjoy each of their characters for being something you either don't normally see in a Star Wars story (Leenik), the most extreme and insane example of a standard trope (Tryst), and even the more 'straight man' characters (Lyntel, Bacta) do a wonderful job of playing off the insanity. The show wouldn't be the same without any of them. TL;DR - If you enjoy Star Wars, long form improv, tabletop liveplays, or just like a good story with interesting and funny characters check out this podcast. I only suggest you begin listening from episode one. I anticipate each episode every week like I anticipate my favorite television series (and there's no off seasons!)Read full review »

I thought The Adventure Zone was enough roleplay for my life. I was so, so, so wrong. This show makes me laugh inappropriately loud, and I think I'm disturbing my fellow Chicagoans. They'll find out, eventually, and they'll wish they would have found the show sooner.Read full review »

Seriously, thank you for making one day out of my week more enjoyable than the rest.

It's so tiring listening to people trying to play geniuses. This show is not like that. These characters are flawed and it's HILARIOUS. Sound quality is great, dialogue is great, story is great.Read full review »
