Infuriating but comprehensive
I’ve never ever heard of an autistic person stalking anyone. It’s a bs excuse. Using autism as an umbrella against any sort of responsibility and to attempt to use it to get away with jail time is disgusting. His mother is in utter denial. She feels guilty over his childhood and didnt even know he had autism until he was in his late teens anyway. He was intentionally cruel and it had nothing to do with a mental illness…it’s just who he is…a cruel person. When he gets out of jail, he will find new victims and his mother will continue to make excuses for him. Thank goodness the judge in his trial took no nonsense. After listening to his mothers interview, it’s no wonder he’s been able to continue to stalk and harass people for so many years. According to her, it’s inappropriate for people to smile and laugh during a court proceeding yet her sons behaviour - years of online threats and destroying peoples lives is all excused away because of his autism. His mother should ashamed of herself. Have some empathy and stop making excuses for him.

I loved this podcast - Kale’s ability to get great access, ask the right questions, and report the full story with balance and empathy makes her one of the stand out journalists of her generation. This was a fantastic listen, hopefully we’ll be hearing many more podcasts from Sirin in the future.
