Exploitive of the vulnerable
Way more of “we have an episode to make” than “we have someone who needs help.” I chose to get sucked into the voyeurism, so I bear some responsibility. Some “subjects” enter in knowingly. Others are pressured to bear great emotional risk, or worse, for entertainment purposes and for the show makers’ financial gain. Empathy expressed feels thin and artificial. It’s seductive… I get it… and I listened to a bunch of episodes… but it’s time for me to own up to my own sad participation and move on.

Tacky show, could have been so much better.

The whole fun of the TV show Catfish is lost in an audio only format. We need to see what these people look like.
