“This is already one of my all time favorite comics podcasts. I learn so much from this show, and I just like having you and your guests over (through the pod). You’ve somehow captured the moment at the house party where you meet the person who is secretly as nerdy as you and you just never get back to the main room. It’s just all comics and life talk from there on out. As a cishet 40 something Black dad, I love hearing you and your guests perspectives. Each one brings something new to the table. I don’t know where I’d put it, so… I do have a question. The original giant size was in the era of old Star Trek when there were great efforts to represent the world’s continents and well known countries. There *may* have been tokenization but efforts were made to be global. Mutants can be born anywhere. However, in the current era of a global and galactic Mutant nations, there’s a striking lack of representation among the protagonists from continents other than North America or Europe. This is especially the case among the leaders. For example, the best and fairest process of choosing the X-men led to… the current roster. It’s as if the meritocracy myth was validated. And while I love the characters and the Arakki additions; I’m a bit troubled when there are more characters who are Blue than Black, or more to the point, more NEW or lead Blue and Green characters than African, South Asian, East Asian, South American and so on. At the same time, a lot of people who buy X-men are from the places that are represented. Do you see this as something that the authors of Mutant culture are aware of and are looking to address. Will this hegemony burn in the Inferno? Thanks for bringing Zaladane back into the lexicon! And for being you!”
