We welcome back crime novelist & President of the Detection Club ;Martin Edwards

Chatting With Sherri welcomes back crime novelist, editor and President of the Detection Club; Martin Edwards!

Martin Edwards has drawn on more than 30 years’ experience as a crime novelist. He is also an internationally acclaimed editor of crime anthologies for the British Library and other publishers. In addition to enjoying many years of success as a crime writer, he is the only person to have been elected to serve as Chair of the Crime Writers’ Association and President of the Detection Club at the same time. This experience gives him a special understanding of the challenges facing crime writers. Having combined his writing life with more than 30 years as a partner in a law firm, he is ideally equipped to encourage aspiring novelists to write while coping with a day job or other commitments.

The Life of Crime: Unravelling the Mysteries of Fiction’s Favourite Genre-In the first major history of crime fiction in fifty years, The Life of Crime: Detecting the History of Mysteries and their Creators traces the evolution of the genre from the eighteenth century to the present, offering brand-new perspective on the world’s most popular form of fiction.

Coming soon from Martin Edwards; The House on Graveyard Lane-The woman in white—surreal artist Damaris Gethin—has invited a select group to the opening of her exhibit "Artist in Crime," held in the eerie subterranean Hades Gallery. As costumed models reenact famously violent deaths, the artist herself portrays Marie Antoinette on the day of her execution, complete with a guillotine on the stage. It's not a prop; within ten minutes of Rachel's promise to solve Damaris's future murder, the artist slips her neck into the collar of the device and the very real blade sends her head rolling at the feet of her horrified audience.

Chatting With Sherri welcomes artist and Illustrator who created covers for Dungeons & Dragons; Larry Elmore!

Leonard Elmore has been creating fantasy and science fiction art for more than forty years. In the 1970s he began freelancing and was published in a few magazines, including Heavy Metal and National Lampoon. After being contacted by TSR Inc., the company that produced the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, Larry worked there from 1981 to 1987. While at TSR, he helped set the standards for gaming art in the role-playing genre. Besides creating covers for Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D, Star Frontiers and other gaming books, he may be best known for his work with the world of Dragonlance.

Since 1987 he has worked as a freelance illustrator, creating covers for comics, computer games, magazines, and fantasy and science fiction books and projects too numerous to list. In recent years, he has been creating paintings for collectors and fans around the world.

He has been an Illustrators of the Future judge since 2012. Larry was presented with the L. Ron Hubbard Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts in 2018.

“The Illustrators of the Future is true competition. It’s a wonderful competition. If I had something like this when I was young to attend, it would blow my mind because I never met a real professional artist till I was out of school, out of college.” —Larry Elmore

Casual and informative

Host Sherri Rabinowitz has a knack for making her guests feel at home on the Chatting with Sherri Podcast. The discussions feel like genuine conversations between friends instead of formulaic Q&A sessions. It's a great format for helping listeners get to know the authors as people and gain more insight into their lives and what motivates their stories.

Always fun and informative

Chatting With Sherri is a fun and informative interview podcast in which host Sherri Rabinowitz chats with actors, writers, directors, and others. A nice informal conversation, like friends over coffee but with lots of great information.

Sherri is also committed to new theater works from emerging Playwrights and presents a special program called Sherri’s Playhouse that is a “radio playhouse” style program.

Highly recommend this program.
