“After four/five years listening to this podcast, I had a sad feeling when I came to click unsubscribe.
It used to a be lively, chat based podcast. The presenters had a good dynamic and the content and tone were pitched at the right level. It was a joy to listen to and it was one of my favourites podcasts.
Then a few years ago one if the regular presenters left and jermina went on maternity leave. This was sad but the dynamics was not irreparably damaged. But then Aleks started a phd and all of a sudden the light heartiness left the podcast and it changed to something much heavier. The interviews with guests started to be filled with heavily academic questions with high winded principles about "the dangers to the senedity of the web" and "what does these mean about of relationship with the way we interact with....". Frankly, some interviews were completely incomprehensible to a normal person and I suspect some interviewee didn't have clue what she was asking them with some of her questions. She's got better recently (possibly as a response to user feedback) but the memory of the bad days is still there.
Then Charles decided he wanted to try and become a business correspondent and report more on the financial numbers. For a reporter, creditability is key and Charles business analysis is so gaff prone that I can't bare to listen to him talk on the subject anymore. Anyone else remember "Google don't have a business model for selling the Nexus 7 at cost" or "Apple doesn't have as much cash as everyone thinks because some is held as cash equivalents."
Now there is the new, digest format which kills off the final elements of the original podcast I liked. It is a sad day because, despite my graping above, I have listened to their voices for a long time now and I am now sad to that I won't be hearing them each week anymore. I'm sad to say i won't be seeing them next Tuesday.”
