But I love this dang podcast! Thanks, Tyler!

This is a really informative, and sometimes horrifying, look at country music. The telling isn’t horrifying, but sometimes the stories are. I’m glad I’ve found this one and I look forward to catching up.

This is a truly excellent podcast. The research into fascinating characters and salacious events is truly impressive, as is the wonderfully enjoyable dry wet and delivery of the creator, Tyler. Oh I was late to finding out about cocaine and rhinestones, but I am eight episodes in and a big fan. I...Read full review »

I’ll never be able to thank Brendan Kelly of the band The Lawrence Arms enough for recommending Tyler’s podcast. I’m not sure I’d have found it otherwise. But i’m going through it for the second time now because it’s just that good. Even if you’re not into country specifically and just like...Read full review »

I discovered this podcast by accident, and the first episode I listened to already knocked it out of the park. The episodes cover so much more than just what’s in the descriptions. They do such a great job of drawing connections with other songs and moments in cultural history. Definitely worth a...Read full review »

I started listening to C&R a couple of years ago after seeing a random post recommending it on tumblr. I wasn’t even particularly interested in the subject matter, but the title caught my eye and I was hooked almost immediately. C&R introduced me to a rich history of a world that I knew...Read full review »

My father had a bus leasing company in Nashville and was friends with DAC. In the 80’s I remember going to DAC property and hanging out at the pool. He lived close to a cave system and had an old carnival style haunted house as well. It was probably 1983 or 1984 and remember DAC planning to have...Read full review »

I want to like it and I want to hear the stories but the narrator is impossible to listen to. I’m sure this is a robot reading a script. Turned it off after two minutes unfortunately, no way I could get through this.

He is a low energy guy. 1 star rating for delivery and execution. Ouch it’s painful and irritating to listen. He. Is. Reading. All of the words. Slow. Without any emotion or tone. Content is pretty good and could be a lot more entertaining. I find myself zoning out as I listen. Don’t know who’s...Read full review »

Thorough research spun into great storytelling. It’s got me hooked and looking forward to the next episode every time. Darren on Tombstone After Dark made mention of this podcast. I heard about this podcast from Drew Lane (of the Drew and Mike show) who had listened to the Winona podcast. I also listened to the Winina podcast and now I’m a fan!

I love music history and behind-the-scenes stories. A friend suggested this podcast, and I wanted to listen to the Wynonna episode. I’ll stick around for that one show, but Tyler Coe is a really bad host…and from what I’ve seen on social media, an equally awful human being. Too bad. This could...Read full review »

AMAZING! I’m new to this podcast and am hooked. Just listened to the Wynona Judd episode (after Naomi’s death a couple of days ago). …but its narrator is unbelievably unbearable. I got through 2.5 episodes before the unnatural, annoying, dramatic inflections (he must’ve felt supplemented the storytelling?) became too much. If I hadn’t been so committed to focusing on the (awesome) story, I could have easily mistaken the host’s...Read full review »

Maybe this is a decent podcast - I’ll never know. Unfortunately the host has the most irritating way of speaking I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I’d rather listen to nails on a chalkboard. Please consider getting a new host for the next season.

This is excellent! Creator-writer-producer and host Tyler Mahan Coe does for the history of country music what Karina Longworth does for old Hollywood. It is very well-researched and written and delivered in a pleasing cadence. Interesting, sometimes funny, often tragic, but always engrossing.

This is one of the best, most interesting podcasts I’ve heard in quite a while.
