This podcast is difficult to listen to at times. Especially knowing the outcome. That being said Dave is one of the best storytellers I’ve ever heard. Give this a listen. You won’t regret it.

The narrator is a great story teller. The podcast has great fluidity and is totally captivating. Easy to binge listen. That being said, my thoughts go out to all the families involved. Domestic violence can take many forms, please ask for help. Thank you for sharing Susan’s story.

Thrilling and infuriating all at the same time. Obviously it was the husband, but this podcast really lays out how they just didn’t have the evidence. And the dad? Didn’t know about that. What a nut. Thoroughly, thoroughly enjoy and have recommended to all my friends and family!

Probably one of the most well done podcasts I’ve ever listened to. It goes so deep into the details of the case so listeners are able to really understand what happened from so many different perspectives. Such a heartbreaking event. This podcast reports on it so well while being respectful of...Read full review »

I had already heard about this case on Sword and Scale but I was interested to learn more. This is the best host on any true crime podcast I’ve ever heard. Dry, straightforward delivery like an episode of Dateline. No quips or dramatic pauses like S&S. Loved it.
tgreenwald via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/18/19
This narrator has all the tact and compassion of a frat bro telling a spooky story to impress his friends. Come on, nobody needs to know about how much background work you tried to do to get the archived audio of the children's interview, Or how police had to sift through fecal matter. It’s...Read full review »

Definitely a 5 star podcast and one that I didn’t intend to binge, but I had to hear what came next! There are some unnecessary dramatizations of content that is in itself dramatic - a bit of gilding the true crime lilly. But such a well constructed and in depth retelling of a story almost too...Read full review »

I have listened to several true crime podcasts and this is the first one that made me cry. It is a fascinating story with a great mix of narration, audio clips and first hand interviews. I was hooked from day one and I’m glad I listened all the way through. I would highly recommend this podcast...Read full review »

I love true crime and cold cases, and, while the story of Susan and Josh is crazy interesting, this over illustrated and clearly biased telling of their story is painful. I find myself frustrated with the narrator at the end of each episode. I wish this retelling was impacted less by the bitter...Read full review »

Very good, very sad. Hearing some of the actual phone calls and recordings are surreal and frustrating. It’s just a sad and frustrating story but told very well. (Only thing I didn’t like was the scripted chuckles from the narrator.)

I’m eight episodes in and I CANNOT get enough. It’s so well researched and the audio interviews are bone chilling. Can’t wait for more.

This is a super interesting podcast, and would be wonderful if the narrator were not so heavy handed. The narration truly detracts from the story.

I was hooked in the first 5 minutes! I am not a pod cast person at all but a friend recommended it to me and I can’t stop listening! Done really well and super intriguing

Every adult sane person in this drama must take responsibility for what didn’t happen. The moment Susan disappeared and the obvious lying of Josh was the time to remove the children and arrest the murderer. All these adults were a bunch of wimps. If those boys ever had a chance to grow up they...Read full review »

It’s a sad story but Dave tells it very well. I hope someday they can find Susan and bring closure for her family. You’ll have a hard time waiting for the next episode to know the rest of the story.

So much time, research and thought put into each episode as well as the entire storyline of the case. One of the most interesting and intelligent podcasts I’ve ever listened to. Thank you for not only sharing Susan’s story, but shedding more light on abusive relationships.
