“Been a fan of Conan’s since ‘95, watching his show in the basement of my middle school crush’s house, trying to pretend I got the jokes.
I have always appreciated Conan’s style of humor but haven’t ever *really* been able to figure out why. I mean, the self-deprecating jabs have literally launched many prototypes into the stand up atmosphere for years...but that’s only one aspect of what makes Conan great.
It finally hit me while I was listening to the Dave Grohl ep today what makes Conan...well...Conan: the people he surrounds himself with. From Brian Stack on his tv show to any number of crew, cast and Andy Richter, the sheer talent and kindness that seems to radiate out of those groups of people is staggering. Matt Gourley is one of the funniest humans on the planet (SuperEgo, Comedy Bang Bang, Thrilling Adventure Hour, etc) and Sona Movsesian has become one of my favorite hosts of a podcast...ever (congrats/condolences on your twins, Sona! :) )
