Healing from addiction with Alice Williams
Listen now
Description
This week Cass talks to freelance writer, yoga teacher and author, Alice Williams who wrote her book, “Bad Yogi” to be a healing memoir for people who hate healing memoirs. After experiencing a quarter life crisis, Alice embarked on a 2-year yoga teacher training program, immersing herself in the wellness industry while simultaneously entering a 12-step recovery program for an eating disorder. Alice shares how those two paths complemented each other and where they differed; Cass and Alice discuss what all addictions have in common and Alice shares from her own experience what helped her to finally be free of her own addiction. CW: This episode includes discussion of disordered eating behaviour. If you’re experiencing an eating disorder or disordered eating, body image or related issues, confidential support is available by calling the National Butterfly Hotline on 1800 ED HOPE (1800 33 4673). In addition to “Bad Yogi”, Alice also wrote, “Would it kill you to say please?” and she’s currently working on more writing projects so be sure to follow her on social media.
