Self respecting female? Skip this one fast.
One is too many stars, I’m sorry. The first 2 minutes of the first episode and you get a great view of how highly Phelps thinks of himself. I pushed through. One of the first few episodes and listening to Phelps completely condescend to and dismiss his female cohost in the most self righteous manner made me cringe. In case you don’t read on, listening to a condescending host say the only reason people on social media discuss true crime is for clicks and popularity is pathetic. Because he must be doing this podcast for what? To cure boredom? The MANY MANY ads in every episode suggest otherwise. Listening to the most recent episode knocking the incredible value of social media in true crime and my blood was boiling by the end. First it was horribly researched, you could tell neither host actually had full facts about much of what they spoke about… after insulting social media true-crime folks… for not researching enough. Classy. They’re making hosts in other mediums seem ignorant and short-sighted and the only thing they prove is that these two hosts are the ones guilty of said insults. Lastly, listening to Phelps and his plethora of condescending, disrespectful, and degrading insults for a huge group of creators, creatives, and viewers of social media true crime content was DISGUSTING. You know what you DONT have in common with those creators Phelps? I’ve never heard any of them insult people who share true crime info differently than them. Seems like he simply looks down on people covering true crime in a way different than him… and ESPECIALLY if those people happen to be women. I’ve listened to MANY true crime podcasts. Some boring, some annoying, some too topical. This one is the worst. I gave it a genuine shot, listened to several episodes in their entirety, but it’s going down as the worst I’ve come across. I was hoping to learn about true crime, instead I listened to a man rant and ramble, who appears to have little, if any, respect for women… all arguably to hear himself talk. He’s the only host listed despite his female cohost, and she’s not mentioned in the podcast description until you’ve read a litany of praise for Phelps himself. No. Thank. You.
