Come for the Guzzetta, Stay for the Torres
Having been in a cult, probably my biggest concern going into listening to this was that they wouldn't take the subject seriously or would mock people in cults, especially because comedians are involved. In short, these three hooligans take the subject very seriously. They do their research, and often complain about the amount of research they had to slog through to find out what they needed to in order to summarize for the audience. At the same time, they find plenty to laugh about, but the jokes aren't so much at the expense of people involved, but silly puns and gags about what cult leaders thought were good ideas. The best part has to be Andrea Guzzetta who I do NOT have a crush on SHUT UP. Seriously though, her endearing, genuine reactions and often infectious laugh makes me want a podcast of Andrea narrating a list of what you should pick up at the grocery store. Mostly because I think the way she would say "store" would be adorable. Again, I'm not crushing on her because of her voice and I resent the implication you keep making. Armando's dumb jokes are also great. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments when it seems like he's been waiting the whole episode to make a pun about the name of a cult. In some ways, Paige is sort of the "straight man" of the comedy trio, mostly keeping things on track while Armando tries out material and Andrea laughs and says, "Oh no!" with her adorable Minnesota or wherever accent. I hope they continue to do more because they really jibe together....Okay, now in Manson voice, say, "Excuse me, in what aisle can I find the spiders?"Read full review »
