“While I love a lot of the books I get for here I do have some problems. Kaytee is incredibly condescending and hypocritical. I was in Patreon for a while and I had to leave. If anybody feels differently than she does she talks down to them and it’s completely in contrast to the equality she tries to preach on the show. Politic wise I am on the same page as Kaytee, but I believe in being respectful towards other people and she doesn’t seem to feel the same. it became unbearable to see such hatred towards people who are paying to be a part of your community. Second, they do not practice what they preach. I’ve been with this podcast since the beginning and there has been a lot of push for diversity and being a black ally. However, it started with two host and has gone to four and there’s no diversity. You have four cisgender, heterosexual, white middle-class mothers. How can you preach to your listeners diversity and giving people of color a voice and then continually add people who are just like you. Even with patreon the format for all things Murderful with Meredith has changed now to add another voice and it’s another person who is the same. Please stop pushing things that you’re not actually willing to live out. All the conversations about books with protagonist of color would be enriched if you actually had a person of color host that could talk about a diverse book as a mirror rather than a window. finally while I don’t mind an occasional YA or middle gradebook, I feel like this has become almost 50% of the books they talk about and when it’s Kaytee and Mary it’s like 90%.”
