“I reviewed this pod a while back after finding it and starting from episode 1, season 1. I binged the first three seasons, then took a break, and now I’m binging again. I am halfway through season 5 and I have some thoughts.
Thought 1: Meredith has to be tied with Sarah and Catherine from Sarah’s Boklshelves Live for my favorite podcast hosts of all time. Her voice is so comforting, she has a knack for giving detailed and thoughtful reviews without giving too much about the plot away, she’s smart and well spoken, and I look forward to listening to her any chance I get. I’m getting ready to sign up for Patreon so I can have more Meredith in my life!
Thought 2: I wish Meredith had a different cohost. I know this is going to sound harsh, but I cannot stand Kaytee. Everything about her is insufferable from her bossy, know it all attitude, to her overbearing, overly-woke political takes, to her choices in books. How many kid books can one grow woman read? I mean, if you enjoy that, great, but read the room, Kaytee. You’re speaking to adults! I’d venture to say most of us don’t want show after show of middle grade recs. Remember that one episode where you said you side eye anyone who “doesn’t read diversely” 🙄? Well, I side eye grown women who read books for 10 year olds all day. I’d even go as far as to say you shouldn’t be counting them towards your total number of books for the year. Grow up! Go read more dragon porn or rom coms or whatever it is that gets you all breathy on the pod. At least you’d be bringing adult recs to the show more often! Again, I know this is harsh, but it’s true. For now I’ll just continue to fast forward through Kaytees parts.
Thought 3: love your guest cohosts. Mindy, Roxanna. Always great discussions and recs for us.
Thought 4: Gave you ever considered having listeners on as guest cohosts from time to time? That would be so fun to listen to. Not me, of course, because I can’t stand kAytee, but maybe run a contest or something for your Patreon supporters and choose a winner every so many months and bring them on for an episode?
