Building a devotional habit
I have used this podcast to help build a habit of spending devoted time with God, in His Word and in prayer. Other Bible reading plans were too lofty a for my goal of creating consistency. But this devotional is in a format that aids my study and habit formation. Just press play!
I read the passage myself in the morning - short enough to read in 10 mins or less. Later in the day, on my commute to or from work, I listen to it as well - great way to redeem time otherwise wasted in the day, and helps turn my heart toward prayer and meditation (eyes open, of course!). This read-then-listen pattern helps me get God’s word into my mind and heart in more than one way. I catch things listening to it, that I missed reading on my own. Furthermore, if I miss my reading time, at least I can turn it on in the car and listen to it. Helps with the consistency! Finally, the devotional commentary is great because it offers insights that I do not glean on my own and points all things back to Christ and the Gospel.
