We have more in common that unites us, than divides us. I invite two guests to share their opposing viewpoints of contentious political beliefs. The idea is not to change another's mind or convince them to 'change sides' but that in the discourse of uncomfortable conversation, we find a common thread that unites us. Using the old phrase "We dont talk politics or religion at the Dinner Table", I dismiss the idea and instead, cook a new dinner each episode for our guests to sit, eat, laugh, enjoy each other's company, but more importantly to learn, listen, and speak respectfully of their views. The first of many episodes, featuring my guest Joel Chapman and Nate Murphy, we explore two polar opposite view points on the subject. Not to convince the other of their position, but to open a dialogue between two people and their varying perspectives in hopes to find common ground. 'Don't talk Politics at the Dinner Table' was created in hopes of bringing differing view points back to the table in a face to face discussion over an actual dinner. In this episode, we explore the main themes of Dangerously Positive: Learning that positivity is a choice and how to navigate societies brutal beat down of negativity while also understanding and conversing with each other on uncomfortable topics, to both talk and listen and to find common ground amongst us so that we, as a human race, can progress towards a peaceful resolution. In no means do we try to convince others to pick a side, but merely to understand where we come from, how it effects our decisions and our ideals and to find those common threads.
