An Actual Play Audio Drama
A synergistic marriage of thrilling audio drama and improvised gameplay, this podcast is a cut above its kind. Well placed sound effects and tension building original scores underlay a dnd experience unlike any other, where instead of clunky dice rolls and casual player banter, your attention is held in suspense by enthralling action sequences and grotesque descriptions of otherworldly horrors. We’re given just enough insight to know when significant dice rolls are required and the consequences of their outcomes are described in seamless prose, maintaining the listeners immersion and holding us on the edge of our seats. The writing and editing for this show are simply incredible and the amount of work put into each episode pays off immensely. The characters are unique and well fleshed out individuals, the settings and NPC’s are painted vividly, and the DM’s voice and tone are as unnerving as they are absolutely enchanting. The actual play podcast scene desperately needs more shows like this. Dnd shows that feel like well produced movies and not just awkward found footage.

More reviews of Dark Dice
I’ve listened to a few actual play podcasts and you nearly have it, plus so much obvious potential. Please consider the charming oddities Glass Cannon and MNmaxed for how more real time player involvement in story progression may be more involving than narratorial exposition

I’ve listened to many roleplaying game podcasts, and I find the method of story telling in the Dark Dice style is much more satisfying as a podcast listener. Now if I could just in on a game or five.
