How is this so amazing? How is this free? It’s like I just discovered Christmas! The variety, the depth, the length, the tintillation, the mystic, the lulling voice. Thank you a million times over! So grateful.

I have only recently begun listening to this podcast and I must say that it is absolutely fantastic! Ben does a brilliant job of narration and obviously does loads of research into each episode. Every story that I have heard so far has been so interesting and always keeps me totally absorbed. ...Read full review »

Ben, you do a really great show and your research is outstanding. But there is one thing you really need to work on as a broadcaster, your pronounciation. For instance Waco in Texas is pronounced wayco not Whacko! I’m guaranteed every episode to a Benism. Nevertheless a superb podcast and I’m...Read full review »

Was recommended this podcast after clearing out my subscriptions at the start of this year. I used to listen to a LOT of true crime podcasts, but recently learned of some… iffy behavior from multiples hosts from different shows. I love Dark Histories the same way I love Most Notorious: to the...Read full review »

This is probably one of the best researched and well written podcasts I’ve ever found in this genre. Too many hosts out there cut and paste their scripts from inaccurate sources, repeating tired versions of the same old stories. Ben Cutmore seems to go out of his way to find primary...Read full review »

A huge breadth of topics and each given the same meticulous research makes this show endlessly fascinating. It is delivered with humor and skepticism as well as a very human sensitivity towards the topics and humans involved. I binged years worth of shows so fast that now I’m spoiled and want a...Read full review »

I love the different perspectives and stories shared! Not the mainstream stories other podcasts might cover. I love history and the influences the past has on more recent events- ties it together!

This podcast is perfect for me. Soft melodic voice. Spooky, creepy and strange stories. Well researched and detailed without too much focus on gore. I love Dark histories.

Love this podcast! It feels like a friend telling you a story about history, and they’ve done a lot of research. I like how he does a kindof analysis at the end and shares his thoughts. Such a great voice too! Great job, thank you so much Ben for this amazing work.

Intriguing, measured, questioning and non sensationalist approach to interesting and dark stories from the past. Definitely at the top of the selection. Give it a go.

The host chooses varied, unusual topics, from Victorian era murders to spooky folklore and unexplained mysteries. This is a well researched show and the host has a fabulous voice.

There are so many history/true crime adjacent podcasts, so it’s hard to stand out. Ben does it. My partner and I have been listening for 3 years, and Dark Histories is consistently one of the most solid and reliable podcasts in our feed. We literally could not wait for part two of the Gef the...Read full review »

Came across this podcast during lockdown and I never miss an episode! Always has an interesting topic with a great deal of research and a detailed summary at the end, giving the listener the chance to form a rounded opinion

I have been listening to a lot of podcasts on any number of topics. If they are good and informative or entertaining, they are usually too short. If they are long enough to delve deeper they have way to many commercials or the host(s) jabber on about nothing other than what coffee the like or...Read full review »

The host just tells the stories in a soft voice and lets the weirdness speak for itself. Much creepier. The amount of research he does is impressive, too. I listen to a lot of true crime and I’ve heard the same stories covered over and over, sometimes repeating things I think are errors. This...Read full review »

Unfortunately, what would’ve been an interesting podcast is rendered unlistenable by the constant grammatical errors and mispronunciation of even common, English words. I’m utterly addicted to listening to these stories! Really well researched and told. Decent podcast with a unique format. However, narrator constantly gets his own dates wrong. Heard him do this many times. One of the main things this podcast gets right as how to do advertising. It’s weird to start with that, because everything else about it is so perfect: the topics, the host, the production, the length—A+++.But I start with ads b/c SO many podcasts RUIN themselves by not taking the time to record...Read full review »
