Episode Seven Season 2: Melbourne Still On Strike

Episode Seven Season 2: Melbourne Still On Strike

This episode we explore two more Melbourne stories of people rising up and sticking it to the man.

It’s world war one and class tensions on the homefront are mounting. “I can tell you about the broken lives that caused the broken windows” says activist and suffragette Adela Pankhurst.

In the early 1930s, the unemployed organise and fight a barrage of evictions across the suburb of Brunswick, even if it means breaking a few windows. Or getting shot.

But these places were often home to individuals within society who had no one to care for them and nowhere else to go. These places were their home.

JNads15 ,

Im loving this podcast!

But why was there only one short season? Is it coming back?

Hidden Gem

I'm not sure how I stumbled on this hidden jewel, but I'm sure glad I did. It is a amazingly well researched and presented podcast. As an American, I sadly have no knowledge of Australia beyond kangaroos, koalas and sharks. Ok, I know more than that, but certainly nothing about their history. This podcast is changing all that in a truly fun, entertaining and engaging way. A GREAT listen.

Only 7 episodes?

Probably for the best. Boring.
