Empowering and real
My mentor and colleague in my school district I work in, recommended your podcast. Thank you for being honest and direct when needed when you talk about the experiences you’ve gone through. As a woc and transracial adoptee, I find your show very validating. I also appreciate the underlying messages of how we non-black POC can work harder at unpacking our privileges and how we can show up more for black communities. It makes me happy to see that there are people like yourselves in the AAPI community who are working to support and center the voices of black communities. Before I wrap up my review, I really value the episode that talks about running in the U.S for black folks and non-black pocs. I love soccer and running but have not done the latter because of feeling unsafe (especially wearing a mask). Thank you for specifically highlighting how “public spaces” are not safe for all and are highly racialized/gendered/etc. And how folks navigate this on a daily basis by how they “perform” their race by choosing what they wear, when to run (or not), have a safety network just in case. I feel that not everyone understands the extent to which people take to make themselves safe in this country. I feel more validated and empowered after listening to your show! Thank you.

Stuff like this makes being a black person a lot harder.

Really enjoyed the episode on cultural appropriation. It was very informative, engaging, and well-researched. The hosts are honest and engaging while tackling “difficult” topics that need to be discussed so we can see change.
