Loved listening to it. Will continue!

This new presenter seems to have zero personality, scant knowledge about the guests or have any passion for the subjects! It has lost its iconic status and feeling of being essential listening.
Englishmark via Apple Podcasts · Japan · 10/16/19
I have loved this show for more than 30 years but the new presenter cheapens it. It doesn’t matter where you are from, you can still learn to pronounce words correctly and retain your accent. I am also from the North East but have educated myself. The lazy pronunciation, limited vocabulary and...Read full review »

This is an amazing podcast! I love all the informative podcasts with some many interesting people like Lin Manuel Miranda.

The concept remains as fresh today as it did decades ago. People didn’t like Kirsty Young at first, that’s how it is when a presenter is changed. Lauren Laverne is doing a grand job
KnowlesKnows via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/04/19
This is the third time I’ve listened to Lemn Sissay and it demonstrates the brilliance of him and Kirsty Young. Now to Laura who has finally developed into an interesting interviewer helped by flirting with Thom. Keep it up please. Please. Please.

As well as famous people I already knew about, I have learned so much about a vast array of fascinating people that I didn’t know existed before. Wish I could access more of the historical episodes through here.

I just listened to the Sabrina Cohen-Hatton episode - so inspiring. Also: Lauren is excellent.
EllieCourt via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/01/19
This is has been my favourite show for years - wonderful format and great range of guests. Lauren isn’t half as good as Kristy Y though.
cvhaywood via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 09/29/19
Lauren is the perfect host. Great guests (favourites being John Cooper Clarke &Thom Yorke), with a unique insight into their personal lives as well as their ultimate record selection.

To have discovered podcasting recently I’m so happy to hear “Desert Island Discs” again. Many childhood memories of the theme music and tales told. Thank you Shirley Melville, Perth, Western Australia

I love listening to the older editions. I’m quite new to podcasts. This edition was delightful. What a humble & inspiring woman. I don’t always like the music choices but hearing the persons life story, well you just couldn’t imagine what some people have experienced. It inspires me to revisit...Read full review »

I am new to Podcasts and I am also new to Desert Island Discs. So I started listening a couple of weeks ago to what I thought would be a some boring anecdotes and some ok music. How wrong was I? Brilliant artists like Nile Rodgers, Stella McCartney and George Martin, discussing their life, as...Read full review »

From the joy of hearing the shows theme to the final choice of books and music (many I wrote down and read or play) this programme is a complete joy. Thank you Di Blackwood Tasmania Aus

Used to love DID but as much as I wanted to love Lauren Laverne interviewing, she isn’t really suited to the job in my opinion. I think the most frustrating thing is how she doesn’t follow up questions or probe at all so the whole thing seems a bit disjointed.
happyplaceaddict via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/25/19
It now reminds me of the wonderful Mrs Merton interviewing her guests...

Lauren Laverne is ok, but really Kirsty Young has been the best DID presenter. I really wish Young well and good health. Hope she is back on DID soon.
Loxedsista via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/17/19
So miss lovely Kristie Young and her beautiful accent & do hope she makes a good recovery! Equally Lauren who has taken over is excellent as are the guests who give an interesting insight into their life’s & aspirations!
nutmegran via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/17/19
Really loved this programme under Kirsty’s charge: her warmth, ability to sensitively probe made for great intimate programmes without the amateur physiologically of the Lawley era. I think listening figures have plummeted. BBC needs a new presenter, ideally a journalist with wit, warmth and depth.
Bardcountry via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/16/19
sorry but this format is so tired - is there anyone left in the UK who hasnt been on this program

I’m a fairly recent convert to DID so enjoying catching up with some great episodes. Really liked Kirsty and now love that Lauren has taken over. She is warm, engaging and has always ‘done her homework ‘ for all the guests. Looking forward to lots more episodes.

I’ve always liked the concept of DID but never been too interested to listen. Since Lauren has been presenting, I never miss it. She’s a certified gold legend. Also I met her once at the Northampton Roadmender in the mid 90s and she was very nice.

Just want to give my full support to Lauren. Your interviews are always interesting and you have a gift in allowing the guest to talk. Very expressive. Love DID.

I like Lauren on other programmes like women’s hour but I can’t stand her on this. She doesn’t probe/ press her interviewees and is clearly just reading the questions put in front of her. This is a top interviewing job and Lauren isn’t up to it - she doesn’t follow up with anything. Please...Read full review »

Why does everyone criticise & complain. Today Lauren allowed Tim to chatter away about himself deeply personal without interruption. Let’s not go back to Sue Lawley interrupting the guests. DID now has very good reputation. Leave guests to relax chat personally.
roycoops via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/09/19
Of course this is one of the greatest radio shows of all time, and Lauren Laverne is a fantastic successor to Kirsty Young. Each episode is a delight.
Bunglewire via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/08/19
She has zero chemistry with any of her guests-having listened to the show religiously for nearly twenty years, I refuse to listen to another episode until she is replaced. She has butchered one of the worlds best radio shows
georgiajane7 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/06/19
Kirsty Young was widely criticised when she first started as always happens with change. Lauren is just different. Her interview with John Cooper Clarke was excellent and allowed him to talk. She is very intelligent, insightful and warm and will grow into one of the best.
Signor Batez via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/02/19
All previous presenters shared a genuine empathy with the guests. Sadly LL does not and sounds as if she is interviewing from a list of questions someone has given her minutes before. DID is fantastic, but...oh dear, Lauren doesn’t really get it does she. Flat interview, obviously just reads the script. At least with Kirsty we had depth of questioning and emotion. Such a shame, as she isn’t really improving either.
GrannyEngland via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/30/19
A rare an honest insight of the guests. Kirsty Young is not only an amazing presenter, her questions are interesting, respectful and sometimes surprising the recipient. Such a shame she is retiring from the show as she is the real star for me.

If you’re into film you’ll find your favourite actors and directors; if it’s science you want more of, then academics, researchers and medics at the top of their game are in the archive; if it’s music you’re after then you’re in for a treat no matter what. I LOVE Desert Island Discs but think Lauren Laverne fails to draw her interviewees out in the way Kirsty Young did so beautifully. I don’t listen to hear what the interviewees have done with their lives, I listen to understand what makes them tick.

Dreadful presenter. Not nearly of the calibre of any of her predecessors. Please replace her. I cannot listen to her. She has spoiled what has been a favourite programme of mine since the days of Roy Plumley. Get rid of her fast... please.
