Just gonna say it straight up, I love you guys. I first heard of the 'cast from Brett's somewhat recent Kotaku Splitscreen appearance and I decided to check out the Resident Evil episodes you guys did. I've pretty much eaten up all of your episodes since. Tim, I love your humble, conversational approach and the insight you bring to gaming -- I love that you haven't played many JRPGs or platformers, which is a perspective that carries a very unique critique for your commentary. Brett, I'm more in line with your style (I'm a big fan of all the reading/watching you do on your site [which you need to update!] -- I picked up DeLillo's Zero K based on what you said about it in the Ico/Shadow cast, it was phenomenal stuff) and appreciate the wit and logic you bring to the conversation. Overall you guys have such a strong outlook on gaming, and somehow manage to spend hours speaking on the intricacies of games (most of which, luckily, I've played). Still waiting for you guys to run through Metal Gear Solid (PS1) and Silent Hill 2 (PS2). Also, I will now forever be waiting on Halo-Life 3. PS for Brett: What did you think of Emily Ruskovich's novel Idaho? I just took a writing class with her at the University of Denver CO, she's top notch. PS for Tim: Who is the greatest Metal Gear character of all time? Big Boss or Revolver Ocelot? "You're pretty good."Read full review »

Lovely series that has veteran game developers go in-depth on one particular game over numerous episodes. These guys go into issues regarding player agency, level design and world building.

They play through a game in parts and wether you are playing along at the moment or played through the game in the past, there's a lot of good discussion and clever...Read full review »

I am a lifelong gamer that has lately been interested in the nuts and bolts that make my favorite games work. While occasionally the production can seem charmingly amateur, this podcast feels like I get to sit down over a beer with the people who really know what goes in to making the games I...Read full review »
