#131 - From Hired to Fired! Avoid these 2 developer career death traps
As an engineering manager I've had the privilege of promoting engineers on my team and offering people their first role in tech. It's one of the most rewarding parts of the job. Besides all the meetings of course... that's the icing on the cake 😉.
Unfortunately, I've also had the not so fun task of promoting people OUT of the team 😬. I've also spoken to a few junior developers who finally landed their first role.... then got fired.
We will explore the top 2 reasons I've seen people get canned and what you can do to avoid this unfortunate scenario.

How to Bulletproof Mind — GOLDEN!
Aaron’s #76 podcast episode literally blew my mind! It’s a must-listen-to for aspiring coders such as myself. Thanks, Aaron…you rock!
A must-listen for bootcamp students
One of the best things about starting a coding bootcamp has been getting to know some of the wonderful people in the software engineering community. Aaron is one of those people. Although we haven’t interacted much, it’s clear through this show, and the way he spends time investing in people, that he truly cares about the state of the industry and, more importantly, people finding their way and not getting burnt out/lost in the process. This show does a great job of covering a lot of bases without getting lost in the mire or being too intellectual in tone. In fact, even as a podcaster myself, I’m not a huge fan of most shows, but I’ve been listening to this nonstop over the weekend. Definitely worth your time, and I can’t wait to see what he releases next.
