Pick and mix
Interesting breadth of topics and some great guest experts but sometimes the commentary drags down the fascinating history is an apparent attempt to force it to align with the presenters’ personal view of the world. Unfortunately this appears in inverse proportion to their detailed knowledge of the topic.

More reviews of Empire
While the content is interesting, William Dalymple’s thick congested British accent and tendency to lower his voice at the end of a sentence (often coinciding with the main point) became too much of a chore for my American ears. Anita Anand’s speaking voice, on the other hand, is lovely.

This is brilliant. The hosts get on really well and are so knowledgeable on their subject matter. Empire should be compulsory listening for British people who don’t now the history of empire.
